Website E-Mail Sending Configuration

To set up a mail client it's necessary to configure an Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server that will take care of the delivery of your emails to your website users.

To configure, add the right SMTP parameters in the settings window given below:


Google services API

Many features of BlackMonk are powered by Google services such as: Google maps, YouTube, Google+ etc. To activate Google enabled services on your website, you must integrate Google Services API.

How to integrate Google Services API?

In order to integrate Google Services API, you need to generate Google Services API key from Google APIs Console.

  • If you already have Google Services API key proceed to step 5, else log in to Google APIs Console using your Google Account
  • Click on the APIs & auth link on the left-hand menu under API project
  • Scroll down and enable Google Maps API v3
  • Next, select Credentials in the left panel and click CREATE NEW KEY, and copy the API key displayed in the Public API Access section
  • Now, login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select General from the left panel. Scroll down, and enter your Google Services API key
  • Finally, click Save Changes

Weather widget integration

BlackMonk weather widget fetches data from World Weather Online, Weather Network services. In order to activate the weather widget you must login to either of the website and generate a URL through which the widget can fetch weather data.

  • Login to World Weather Online, Weather Network services and generate URL by choosing your location and weather preferences (i.e. farenheit or celcius)
  • Next, login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select Weather from the left panel
  • Select World Weather Online, Weather Network (depending on which service you wish to use) - paste the URL and select desired Weather unit
  • Finally click Update to activate the weather widget

Twitter widget integration

You can have a weather widget on your website that shows local weather and a twitter widget which shows current tweets from your website's twitter handle.

Note: Weather widget is powered by The Weather Network or World Weather Online

How to activate twitter widget?

  • If you already have a twitter widget id proceed to step 4, else login to your twitter account and click Settings icon located in the top right corner
  • In the left panel select Widgets and click Create new
  • Fill in the required details - click Create Widget and copy the Widget ID as highlighted in the screenshot
  • Next, login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select General from the left panel, and enter the widget id in Twitter Widget Id field
  • Finally, click Save Changes

Social Sign in

You can allow users to sign up on your website using their Facebook or Twitter accounts. Enabling social sign in helps attract users because it is a quick and hassle-free way of getting started.

Facebook Sign In (Facebook App ID/App Secret): In order to get an App ID and Secret Key from Facebook, you’ll need to register a new application.

There are 4 simple steps to creating a Facebook App, which we’ve outlined below:

  • Visit the Facebook Developers Page.
  • Choose 'website' as your apps platform.
  • Create App ID
  • Retrieve your info. After you've followed the above steps, you will see your 'App ID' &amo; 'App Secret' in two fields at the top.

Copy these values and paste into the Facebook App ID/App Secret in the admin control panel of your website.

Twitter Sign In (Consumer Key/Consumer Secret): In order to get a Consumer Key & Consumer Secret from Twitter, you’ll have to create a Twitter app.

Currency & payment gateway

How to set transactional currency for your website?

You can set the transactional currency for receiving payments for all services offered on your website including: directory subscription, advertising, content promotion, voucher sales etc.

Here are the steps:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select Currency/Payment in the left panel, and enter the currency code and symbol (e.g. USD -$, GBP-£)
  • Finally, scroll down to end of page and click Save Changes

How to allow offline payment on the website?

By enabling the offline payment option, you can allow clients to opt for offline payment while signing-up for paid services. Depending on the moderation settings of various BlackMonk apps, clients may start receiving the service as soon as they sign-up. To prevent this you must change the moderation settings of all active apps. To learn more about moderation settings refer Content moderation.

Note: Realizing offline payments from clients is your responsibility. BlackMonk software cannot help you realize offline payment.

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select Currency/Payment in the left panel, and then select Offline Payment under Payment Gateways
  • Finally, scroll down to the end of the page and click Save Changes

How to integrate PayPal payment gateway?

Note: In order to use PayPal payment gateway you must provide your PayPal email id. If you don’t have a PayPal account please register here https://www.paypal.com/in/webapps/mpp/home

Here are the steps for enabling offline payment:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select Currency/Payment in the left panel, and then select PayPal Payment under Payment Gateways
  • Next, enter your PayPal Email Id
  • Finally, scroll down to end of page and click Save Changes

How to integrate Authorize.Net payment gateway?

Note: In order to integrate Authorize.Net payment gateway you must have an Authorize.Net account. If you don’t have an Authorize.Net account please create an account here

Here are the steps for enabling offline payment:

  • If you have your Authorize.Net API Login ID and Transaction Key proceed to step 4, else visit https://secure.authorize.net/ and login to your Authorize.Net account
  • In the left panel, select Settings under Accounts
  • Next, select API Login ID and Transaction Key under Security Settings (you may be prompted to answer the secret question specified by you at the time of registration) and click Submit. Make note of your API Login ID/Transaction Key
  • Now, login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select Currency/Payment in the left panel, and then select Authorize.Net under Payment Gateways
  • Next, enter your API Login ID and Transaction Key
  • Finally, scroll down to end of page and click Save Changes

How to integrate Stripe payment gateway?

Note: In order to integrate Stripe payment gateway you must have a Stripe account. If you don’t have a Stripe account please create an account here https://manage.stripe.com/register

  • If you have your Stripe Public Key and Private key proceed to step 4, else login to your Stripe account and click Account Settings
  • Switch to WebHooks tab, click Add URL and enter your website’s URL
  • Next, switch to API tab and generate API key. Make a note of your Public Key/Private Key
  • Now, login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Settings tab
  • Select Currency/Payment in the left panel, and then select Stripe under Payment Gateways
  • Next, enter your Public Key and Private Key
  • Finally, click Save Changes

Email Templates

BlackMonk provides transactional email templates which are automatically sent to users when they create an account, submit content or avail promotional services provided on the website. You can customize these email templates as per your requirement.

Note: BlackMonk doesn't provide an option for creating new email templates.


Comment/Review Settings

Here you can define the settings related to commenting/reviews on your BlackMonk website. You can either choose inhouse commenting system or DISQUS (third-party commenting system).

Inhouse Commenting System: You can enable/disable comments for any module as shown in the screenshot below:



Newsletter API integration

You can send newsletters to registered users of your website, by integrating the MailChimp API. This way you can automatically add registered users to your MailChimp mailing list and run newsletter campaigns.

How to create Mailchimp Newsletter API?

  • Login to your MailChimp account and create a list
  • Switch to Accounts tab and make note of the API key
  • Switch to Lists tab, click For Your Website and select Sign up Form Link Code in the dropdown menu
  • Make note of List ID and Signup Form Link Code
  • Next, log in to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select Newsletter from the left panel
  • Enter API Key, List ID and URL in respective fields
  • Finally, click Update. Your registered users will be added to your MailChimp mailing list
