How to brand the website (add/change site name, logo, favicon)?

You can create a name for your website (e.g. AmazingWeddings.com, World of Sports). The website name appears on all pages as well as on backend interface. You can even add logo and favicon to your website.

Here are the steps:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select General from left panel
  • Enter/edit website name in the Site Name field
  • Next, scroll down to Branding options and upload logo, favicon or iPhone/iPad icon. You can upload PNG/ICO files for favicon and non transparent PNG files (114 X 114) pixels for iPhone/iPad icon
  • Finally, scroll down and click Save Changes

How to set website email account (for auto responders)?

You can designate an email id for sending out email response to users. When people use website services they will receive auto-generated response from the designated email id.

Here are the steps:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select General in the left panel
  • Next, scroll down and enter an email id in the Site Email Account field
  • Finally click Save Changes

How to customize the format of date/time displayed on the website?

BlackMonk displays the publishing date/time of content, listings, posts, comments and reviews. You can customize the format of date/time by following these steps:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select General in the left panel
  • Scroll down and select a date/time format
  • You can also define custom format for date/time. For example, “%A %B %d, %Y” denotes Wednesday January 15, 2014 and “%i:%M % p” denotes 01:40 PM. You can configure custom date and time format by entering a combination of codes interspersed with desired punctuation marks. Following are the valid codes for configuring date/time format.
    Date: %B – full month, % b – abbreviated month, %d – day of the month, %A – full weekday, %a – abbreviated weekday
    Time: %I - 12 hour clock, %i – 24 hour clock, %M – minute, % S - second, %p – AM/PM
  • Finally, scroll down and Save Changes

How to add social icons (facebook, twitter, Pinterest, Google+)?

You can easily add social icons to your website, and drive traffic to your social profiles on facebook, twitter, Pinterest and Google+. Once activated, social icons are displayed in the header/footer area of your website.

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Settings tab and select General in the left panel
  • Next, scroll down to Social Accounts - select an icon and enter URL of respective social profile
  • After activating desired social icons click Save Changes

How to add copyright line to your website?

You can protect your intellectual property by displaying copyright line across all pages. The copyright line appears in the footer section of each page.

Here are the steps for adding a copyright line:

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab, and select Copyright in the left panel
  • Enter copyright line and click Update

Activating apps

BlackMonk provides number of apps for publishing different forms of content and deploying various web services. For example, you can activate the article and event app if you wish to publish articles and online event calendar on your web portal, or you can activate community and eShop app if you wish to offer community forum and ecommerce services. Apps can be activated/deactivated at any time.

How to activate/deactivate apps for your web portal

  • To activate/deactivate an app locate the app which is to be activated/deactivated click and select Active/Inactive

Website navigation

You can easily configure header, sub-header and footer links for your web portal.

How to configure header navigation menu?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Header Links from left panel
  • Click Add Item, and enter Label and URL in the light box. The URL helps in linking the menu item to an app (e.g. articles app, business directory app etc)

    To know the URL of the app that you wish to link to your menu item, switch to Settings tab and select Available App

  • Finally click Create

How to configure sub header navigation menu?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Sub Header Links from left panel
  • Click Add Item, and enter Label and URL (format: /slug/) in the light box. The URL helps in linking the menu item to an app or channel (e.g. Deals, Health and Wellness etc). To know the URL of the app that you wish to link to the menu, switch to Settings tab and select Available Apps
  • Finally click Create

How to configure sub header navigation menu?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Sub Header Links from left panel
  • Click Add Item, and enter Label and URL (format: /slug/) in the light box. The URL helps in linking the menu item to an app or channel (e.g. Deals, Health and Wellness etc). To know the URL of the app that you wish to link to the menu, switch to Settings tab and select Available Apps

    To know the URL slug of the channel that you wish to link to the menu, got to Staff Control Panel > Channel and click on desired channel

  • Finally click Create

How to configure footer links?

You can create multi-column links in the footer section of your web portal. This helps in creating a navigation structure through which users can navigate to sections and sub-sections of your web portal.

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Footer from left panel
  • Click Add Item, and enter Label and URL (full URL of the page as it appears in your browser’s address bar)
  • Click Create, and the new link will be added to the list of footer links
  • To make the new link a sub-item under an existing item, just drag and drop the link to a desired location
  • To add sub0items to the newly created link, just drag and drop desired items under the new link
  • Finally, click Update to save the changes

How to change ordering of header and sub header menu?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Design tab
  • In the left panel, select Header/Sub Header
  • Drag and drop items to change their order
  • Click Update when you are done

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and sign in and switch to Design tab
  • In the left panel, Header/Sub Header/Footer
  • Click and edit Label/URL fields in the light box
  • Finally click Update to apply the changes

How to delete header, sub header or footer links

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel and switch to Design tab
  • In the left panel, select Header/Sub Header/Footer
  • Locate the item which you wish to delete and click
  • An alert box comes-up, click Ok to confirm the deletion

Share buttons

Facebook Like Box Integration

The Facebook Like button is the quickest way for people to share content with their friends. A single click on the Like button will 'like' pieces of content on the web and share them on Facebook.

Adding a 'Like Box' to your BlackMonk website is really simple. Just follow the steps below:

  • Copy the URL of the Facebook page you would like to embed
  • Paste the copied URL into the Facebook page URL field in the Social Accounts section of your website's Admin Control Panel.
  • Click on Save Changes

Your new Like Box embed should pop right into on the website's home page.

Custom Themes

You can easily configure custom themes with the choicest fonts and colors or you can get started right away with the pre-defined themes for your web portal.

How to configure custom themes?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Themes from left panel
  • If you want to use the pre-defined themes, you can select any of theme from list of option
  • If you want to customise the themes , click on Custom Themes
  • Click on the select box, whichever you want to change and choose the color.
  • Finally click Save Changes

How to add custom labels?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Themes from left panel
  • Select sub Custom Labels from left panel
  • Edit the labels for each custom labels found throughout the home page and replace with your desired label name.
  • Finally click Save Labels

How to choose custom fonts?

  • Login to your website’s Admin Control Panel
  • Switch to Design tab
  • Select Themes from left panel
  • Select Sub Custom Fonts from left panel
  • Choose a font style which you want to display in your website.
  • Finally click Save Font
